Avebury
Avebury is a Neolithic henge monument containing three stone circles, around the village of Avebury. One of the best-known prehistoric sites in Britain, it contains the largest megalithic stone circle in the world.
Many suggest that the henge could have been a meeting place for the citizens of the area for seasonal fairs or festivals.

Silbury Hill is a prehistoric artificial chalk mound near Avebury, part of the complex of Neolithic monuments around Avebury, which includes the Avebury Ring and West Kennet Long Barrow. Its original purpose is still debated.
According to legend, Silbury is the last resting place of a King Sil, represented in a life-size gold statue and sitting on a golden horse.

Stonehenge could have been a burial ground from its earliest beginnings. Deposits containing human bone date from as early as 3000 BC, when the ditch and bank were first dug, and continued for at least another 500 years.
